Beyond Solo: Crafting the Multiplayer Story

InterviewGamespot has posted a video of the Comic-Con 2010 panel "Beyond Solo: Crafting the Multiplayer Story" that took place for Starwars: The Old Republic. Discussion questions asked of the panel, in this video, were answered by BioWare's James Ohlen (Studio Creative Director and Lead Designer). They also had Drew Karpyshyn (Principal Writer) answering questions. Alexander Freed (Managing Editor) sat in as well. Here's the quote from Sean Dahlberg, on the official forums: In case you didn't get to make it to Comic-Con International this year or you did but just couldn't get into the Beyond Solo Panel, no worries! GameSpot has been covering the various events and has a 49 minute video of the panel. Check it out!

Space Combat in The Old Republic!

News ArticleThis is a great announcement out of Comic-Con 2010. Space Combat is here. Heres the official announcement. First, thank you to all of you who participated in our Comic-Con Reveal mission! While we didn't quite make the numbers, we definitely saw how excited the community is about this and how everyone came together. After all of that, there's no way we could hold back with our special reveal at Comic-Con! If you’ve been following the news coming out of the Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ panel at Comic-Con International, you’ve heard the announcement that we will indeed have Space Combat as part of the TOR experience! But what does that mean?

Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various “hot spots” on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars™ space battles.

Fatal Alliance

News ArticleThe Starwars: The Old Republic official site has posted a new News Article entitled: Fatal Alliance. Initially revealed last December, Star Wars™: The Old Republic™: Fatal Alliance has hit the shelves! Written by bestselling author Sean Williams and published by Del Rey Books, this novel takes place only a few years after the Sacking of Coruscant. When a Smuggler discovers the legacy of a lost world onboard a derelict starship, a dangerous secret is brought to life. Allegiances shift as Jedi, Sith, Republic Troopers, and Imperial Agents maneuver for political power and personal gain. Ultimately, enemies must put aside their distrust to defend the galaxy against a threat of unthinkable proportions.

As an exclusive to The Old Republic Community, read the first chapter of Fatal Alliance before you head out to your local bookstore to pick up your copy!

Everything I have seen confirms my worst fears.

Chapter 1

SHIGAR KONSHI FOLLOWED the sound of blasterfire through Coruscant’s old districts. He never stumbled, never slipped, never lost his way, even through lanes that were narrow and crowded with years of detritus that had settled slowly from the levels above. Cables and signs swayed overhead, hanging so low in places that Shigar was forced to duck beneath them. Tall and slender, with one blue chevron on each cheek, the Jedi apprentice moved with grace and surety surprising for his eighteen years.

You will have to head over to the official site to read the entire article and the rest of the chapter. You can find it here.
