Welcome to Shyins

ShyinsWelcome to Shyins Starwars: The Old Republic website. I have been a fan of the Starwars Universe like many, many others out there since my early years. When the rumors started surfacing in 2007, about the secret MMO being developed by LucasArts and BioWare, I decided to keep as close a track on it as I possibly could, and get a website together for the Official Press Release. I worked very hard to finish this site, and though it was a little late, I finally made it. I want to welcome everyone to Shyins Starwars: The Old Republic website.

Developer Blog: Composing the Sith Inquisitor

Developer BlogThe official website has posted a brand new Developer Blog Entitled: Composing the Sith Inquisitor. Writer Rebecca Harwick takes us down the path to the dark side as she composes the Sith Inquisitor! I could tell you that the Sith Inquisitor is the Emperor Palpatine to the Sith Warrior’s Darth Vader, but that sells it short. The archetype is just inspiration. It’s not the destination, or the road we take to get there, but the guide. The Sith Inquisitor is Raistlin. The Sith Inquisitor is Lucifer. The Sith Inquisitor is Julius Caesar. The Sith Inquisitor is what you make him.

Sith Inquisitor

Through victory, my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.

When we set out to build our game, we knew we needed more than one Sith class. The original trilogy only has two Sith in it, but they couldn’t be more different: the heavily armored brutal physicality of Darth Vader compared to the frail but immensely powerful Emperor Palpatine. When we extend our inspiration to Episodes I-III and The Clone Wars cartoons, Count Dooku, Darth Maul, and Asajj Ventress further expand our concept of what a Sith can be. Is a Sith a lithe quick fighter who uses the Force to enhance his/her physical combat prowess, a calculating deceiver adept at Lightsaber duels, or a master manipulator and amasser of dark side secrets? Does a Sith use one lightsaber, two Lightsabers, or a dual-bladed Lightsaber? Having multiple Sith classes allows us to embrace all of those Sith inspirations, instead of having one Sith class that was the jack-of-all-trades and the master of none.

What a great blog this is. Head over to the official site and check out the entire blog for yourself here.

Onslaught of the Sith Empire

TimelineThe Starwars: The Old Republic official site has released a brand new holorecord. Watch the sixth Timeline Holorecord entry, Onslaught of the Sith Empire, narrated by actor Lance Henriksen. A new holorecord in the Jedi Archive tells the story of the Sith Empire’s surprise attack at the start of the Great War over 28 years before the Sacking of Coruscant. Master Gnost-Dural notes the brilliance of the Imperial military’s carefully orchestrated assault which put the Republic at a disadvantage for the duration of the conflict. Check out this latest entry:

BTC 28 - Centuries after being driven into exile, the Sith Empire returned from deep space to launch the most calculated military assault in Republic history. Strategically revealing its attack in a menacing manner, the Sith struck fear into the hearts of the Republic’s defenders even while orchestrating surprise attacks at carefully targeted locations across the galaxy. When the Republic fleet rushed to respond, they discovered the Sith had established puppet governments on several planets in the Outer Rim. Surrounded by enemies and traitors, the Republic fleet was forced to scatter, allowing the Sith Empire to sweep through most of the Outer Rim without further challenge. The Empire’s initial victories put the Republic at a disadvantage for the duration of the Great War.

Dromund Kaas: Imperial Seat of Power

PlanetThe Starwars: The Old Republic official site has posted a new playable Planet: Dromund Kaas. Colonized and built upon by the Sith Empire, Dromund Kaas is home to the Emperor and his Dark Council. Almost completely forgotten for over a thousand years, the rediscovery of this world prompted the Sith surprise attacks that plunged the entire galaxy headlong into war. Despite being off the map by comparison to more heavily visited planets, such as the training world of Korriban, Dromund Kaas is very much the center of the Empire.

Developer Blog: Top Secret: Dossier on the Imperial Agent!

Developer BlogThe official website has posted a brand new Developer Blog Entitled: Top Secret: Dossier on the Imperial Agent! Creating a New Class: One of our goals for the Imperial Agent was to take a fresh look at the Star Wars universe. We know what life is like for Jedi and Sith, smugglers and bounty hunters—but what does it mean to be a citizen of the Empire, charged with protecting its people and bringing glory to its Sith rulers? What does it take to be part of a military machine—not as a soldier on the front lines or a scheming Grand Moff, but as a player in politics and espionage?

Imperial Agent

What sort of person navigates a galaxy of superweapons and superhumans with only his training and his wits, knowing that one wrong word could mean secrets exposed and wars lost? What’s the ultimate goal for such an individual? Power? Thrills? Or simply an Empire safe from its enemies?

What a great blog this is. Head over to the official site and check out the entire blog for yourself here.
