The Starwars: The Old Republic official site has made another great announcement. Quote from the official site: Star Wars: The Old Republic reveals the next playable class, the street savvy, credit seeking Smuggler. Making a profit from the desperate needs of a war-torn galaxy is how the Smuggler earns his credits. Transporting contraband, stolen goods, and highly sought-after fugitives through treacherous trade routes is in high demand, and more and more Smugglers are taking advantage of this opportunity.

Any self-respecting Smuggler must be able to shoot or charm his way out of the most complex predicaments. They must be incredibly quick-witted, able to bargain with the underbelly of society, and most importantly, they must be able to deliver… their lives depend on it.
New concept art, wallpapers, and screenshots were also released, they have been added to our galleries. You can check out all the new information related to the Smuggler class on The Holonet at the official site here.
The official website has posted a brand new Developer Blog. Entitled: Happiness is a Warm Gun. Principal Lead Combat Designer Damion Schubert talks about creating the Trooper class. The Trooper has evolved over time since that first playtest, but at the core he remains the same: a dedicated soldier who believes in military precision, tactical superiority and above all, a whole lot of firepower. With his impressive arsenal of assault rifles and grenades, the Trooper is the best ranged damage dealer the Republic has to offer.

That’s not all the Trooper is about, though. He’s got the ability to adjust his combat capabilities to meet different challenges. He’s got an array of morale-themed party buffs designed to strengthen himself and his party. He’s got just enough control to be able to maintain range and keep the fight on his own terms.
But really, what’s the Trooper about? A simple philosophy: “Happiness is a warm gun.”
This is a great Blog about the Trooper Class, you can read the rest of the article here.

BioWare and LucasArts share with us the first ever Cinematic Trailer entitled: Deceived. The Sacking of Coruscant. It was the crowning achievement of the Sith Empire’s ambitious military strategy and the moment that changed the history of the Old Republic forever. You may have read about it before, but our first cinematic trailer captures this event with breathtaking action and beautiful detail. All I can say is WOW, what a great job everyone. This trailer is absolutely amazing. A lot of thought and work went into this. Watch the trailer: Deceived now:
Republic leaders have traveled to Alderaan to engage in promised peace talks with the Sith Empire. The most powerful Jedi have accompanied them to safeguard against an Imperial deception. The Empire’s real motive, however, was simply to lure the Republic’s strongest defenders away from Coruscant and set the stage for an audacious attack. Under the command of Lord Angral, the Sith fleet approaches the Republic’s capital planet for the first time in centuries. In advance of the fleet, the strongest Sith Warriors have flown a stolen Republic ship into Coruscant’s orbit. Their mission is critical – to destroy the planet’s defense grid mainframe hidden in the heart of the Jedi Temple.
We here at Shyins are quite excited with this release. You have to feel immersed in the struggle between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. We are eagerly awaiting the next trailer.

The Starwars: The Old Republic official site has released a brand new holorecord. Watch the second holorecord entry, The Mandalorian Blockade is Broken, narrated by actor Lance Henriksen. As part of his accounting of recent events in the galaxies timeline, Master Gnost-Dural, Keeper of the Jedi Archives, has entered a new holorecord on the subject of the Mandalorian Blockade. We will be adding a section here on our site in the future for this new segment. Here is the text version to check out:
After the sacking of Coruscant, the Jedi council agreed that the Republic had been undone by the bold cunning of the Empire's strategy.
A closer look, however, suggests the sacking of Coruscant was not the crowning moment of the Empire's campaign, but rather a risky maneuver undertaken after all other efforts had failed. The Sith only considered turning to such measures after their efforts were undermined by an unlikely Republic ally - The criminal smuggling contingent that broke the Mandalorian Blockade.
The blockade choked the primary trade route for providing Republic military support to the outer rim… and the main hyperlane for bringing raw goods from the colonies to the core worlds. Long standing holdouts in the outer rim began folding to the Empire, and critical supplies vanished from the core worlds almost overnight.
As starvation swept through the lower levels of Coruscant, riots broke out planetwide. Talk in the senate veered sharply toward a complete surrender to the Sith Empire. It was at this critical hour that a Mirialan smuggler named Hylo Visz recognized an extraordinary business opportunity for her and her partners.
The Starwars: The Old Republic official site has made another great announcement. Quote from the official site: We are excited to reveal the next playable character class in Star Wars: The Old Republic, the Trooper! This class sounds very exciting. This looks like it will be a very heavily armored and weaponed combat soldier. Could this be one of the tank classes? There is no doubt that this is a Republic factioned character, but with the dual faction system this could be played as a Dark Trooper. The possibilities for character development sound amazing.

The Trooper is an elite combat specialist in the Republic military armed with heavy blaster rifles and nearly impenetrable armor designed by the military’s top engineers. Trained to beat almost any odds, the Trooper battles deep behind enemy lines to carry out precise, hard hitting strikes against the enemy, with a barrage of blaster-fire and a few carefully aimed firebombs. Even Sith Lords are wise to think twice before engaging in combat with the Trooper—this is what it means to be one of the Republic’s finest.
New wallpapers and screenshots were also released, they have been added to our galleries. In conjunction with this announcement, GameSpot was granted an interview with Principal Lead Writer Daniel Erickson and Lead Combat Designer Damion Schubert that you can read here.

And will be keeping the full comic series here on the site for all to read and enjoy. Check out this clip of the sixth issue:

Act 1: Treaty of Coruscant: Issue 6: The sixth issue of Threat of Peace brings us back to Coruscant where the heroic defenders of the Republic’s capital planet, Lieutenant Tavus and Jedi Master Orgus Din, have been holed up in the lower levels since just after the Sith Empire's assault.
